(AP) — A Wyoming uranium mine halted some operations following two spills of water tainted with relatively low levels of the radioactive element, including one spill that was among the biggest on record for the industry in the top uranium-producing state. The spills happened at Ur-Energy’s Lost Creek mine 70 miles (43 kilometers) northeast of Rock Springs. A more than 200,000-gallon (757,000-liter) spill Aug. 18, followed by a 10,000-gallon (38,000-liter) spill Tuesday, prompted Littleton, Colorado-based Ur-Energy to partially halt operations. Workers shut down part of the mine unit where the spills occurred so equipment could be inspected, company officials told Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality regulators in an email on file with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and posted by the NRC online. It may be due to large heavenly bodies up there, and incoming. What is evident is, there seems to be a uptick in greater and greater weather related earth changes. 1) The Turbine Building and Component Cooling Water Building are open air structures. This is rather hard to believe. What could possibly go wrong in a 200 MPH hurricane.
2) After Fukushima, NRC “allowed” FPL to reduce the maximum expected flood levels. In 1980 they calculated 22.5 Mean Water Level.
In 2016, they reduced it to 17.3 MWL, and 19.1 with waves. Then without elaboration or justification they “re-evaluate” the flood heights to be 18.0, 17.5, or 17.9 on the north, west, and south flood protection walls. Notice anything missing, besides common sense and basic risk control?

But even at the lowest expected flooding levels, they acknowledge that the plant will still flood.
